Flight
This piece is dedicated to Ryan, who supported my composition career from the earliest stages.
"Flight" is a soaring composition that captures the feeling of taking to the skies and experiencing the freedom of flight. It begins with a fast-paced and energetic introduction, featuring driving syncopation, light-hearted meter changes, and bouncing melodies. The melody is passed between different instruments, creating a sense of playful interaction.
The work reproduces the energetic and exciting feeling of flying through the air. The differences in meter and syncopation allows for a bouncy feeling that may remind one of weaving through the clouds on a plane. The middle of the piece changes tone to create the environment of slight turbulence. This work may be short, but still creates a unique experience.
